Development of the Greiz site

1895   Treuter & Golle is established. The company, a print shop for woolen fabrics, also runs production  facilities for chemical additives
 
1909  Treuter & Golle is taken over by Zschimmer & Schwarz, a company involved in the wholesale production of chemical additives for the textile and leather industries (hydrogen peroxide, aluminium hydroxid, and stains)
 
1948  The company is expropriated and transferred into state ownership. This is followed by the rapid expansion of aluminium hydroxide production (raw material for aluminium fabrication) 
 
1963  There is a complete change of product portfolio to organic additives for the plastics and processing industry (PVC stabilizers, epoxy plasticisers, metal stearates and polysulfides)
 
1970  The site becomes part of the state-owned company, VEB Chemische Werke Buna

1990  The company is denationalized and Chemiewerk Greiz-Dölau GmbH is established

1991  The company and site is taken over over by Harcros Ltd. (UK)

1993  Greiz becomes part of Akcros Chemicals (a joint venture between Harcros and Akzo)

1998  Akzo Nobel takes over full ownership of Akcros Chemicals
 
2002  The business is given the name Thioplast Chemicals GmbH & Co.KG

2007 Internal merger within Akzo Nobel Chemicals Germany´. The company name has been replaced by:
Akzo Nobel Functional Chemicals GmbH & Co. KG
