The Greiz site has developed into a leading center for liquid polysulfide polymers in the past few decades. These polymers - which trade under the name THIOPLAST™ and are key ingredients in the manufacture of rubber-like sealants - demonstrate excellent resistance to weathering, water, oils, fats, fuels, numerous chemicals and solvents.

THIOPLAST™ is ideally suited for the production of sealing compounds and protective coatings for a variety of applications in the construction, aircraft and marine industries. Thioplast sealants are mainly used in the manufacture of insulating glass.

With an annual production capacity of nearly 30,000 MT (2008), Akzo Nobel Functional Chemicals is the global market leader in polysulfides.
